Yes, with the engine running the cat is out of the bag. A lot of my Bucket-T friends like to enter the show & shine car shows and I'll tag along for comic relief, not entering but they save me a spot with them. You know how these things are done, we are all sitting around our rides, feet propped up on the ice chest, listening to the general public comment among themselves about our rides. They notice how narrow my hood is and say "4 cylinder", I'll respond "are you sure?" They look real close and still don't make the connection about these side bulges........... ![]() and say it isn't long enough for a straight six. I pop the hood and watch them go nuts with the oohs and aahs. ![]() But now, something else will be staring at them............... ![]() On the street if someone pulls beside me at a stoplight with a loud, growling engine, they don't even hear mine and the fun begins on the green. I enjoy the sleeper aspect of my ride, that is why the rear tires are 12" Mickey's instead of the 22" wide ones. Most people don't have the foggiest what a Caddy CTS-V is all about, so I have a civilized sleeper too. ![]() 556 HP in a car pushing 4000 lbs is fast enough for most street light confrontations. 526 HP in a car that weighs 1790 lbs, about the only thing that might give me a good run is a crotch rocket that has been massaged a bit. Not many 9 second rides on the streets. Sleepers are fun. Last edited by deckofficer; 02-19-2013 at 10:42 AM. |

lol, I'm a sucker for a CTS-V, so if I pulled up alongside you, I'd know right away what you were driving. Not the case for most other people.
Separately, don't cut those hood skirts. They're beautiful. I henceforth retract my previous statement. Jay K. |

Jay K, explain your avatar, it looks like it could be a sleeper.

The Avatar is actually Ed Roth's Orbitron. Which of all cars was found in Mexico in front of an adult bookstore in very beat up condition. It's since been brought stateside & restored to show car condition. Quite a story if you have the time! Jay K. On the truck or in a truck?
This is suppose to be sunny California. Yesterday, weather gods must have known I was nearing completion on the engine swap. Previous days were in the 70's. ![]() Today, getting back to normal California sunshine.

How I'm going to do the cool air intake is now a moot point. Got to the point of wrapping up to find the forward air sense tube on top of the carb hits the hood. So now I have no choice but to cut the hood for a scoop, damn there goes the sweet lines of the Track-T. It does kill two birds with one stone, needed under hood clearance for the carb and air cleaner and cool intake air. I'm going to take my time to design something that has decent aesthetics so will go hoodless for awhile.
![]() Now on to oil pan clearance or lack there of. This picture is at the crown of the shop entrance where the rear wheels are lower by about 3" over this crown. ![]() Here are the new M/T tires next to the Lotus tires. Mounted and aired up should give a larger diameter but for me not high enough. I don't want my drain plug to be loosened every time I cross over a speed bump or a tall roadway apron, so will be fabricating a skid plate. ![]() This is what I've been waiting to hear, the firing of the 427. Because of the clearance issues to the road, have not driven it yet, but with the new tires mounted and skid plate installed I will find out what 3.4 lbs per HP is all about. This is the 2nd firing. Stay tuned. Last edited by deckofficer; 02-20-2013 at 12:02 PM. |

Why would you want a engine that has a torque peak at 2800 rpm? You have a motorhome or tow truck for that engine?
