if color has to do with anything in those respects it would have to do with fading, not peeling. Peeling would be either prepping, compatibility issues, or oxidation of the clear, which is most common on horizontal panels facing the sun.
If color would have anything to do with peeling it would probably come from a single stage, but haven't heard of any issues like that. As far as fading goes, yellows and reds fade pretty fast. There's a lime green I always see on the newer VW bugs and most of them I see are badly faded. Some pigments are more prone to it I guess.
