My project

Well, here I am with a post about the project that I'm working on. It's just in the concept stages yet, but here are the details and I'd like some suggestions with what I should do.

Engine: GM 350
Tranny: GM TH350 from a 75 Camaro ($40 off Craigslist Seattle)
Chassis: 2 x 4 tubing
Wheelbase: 113"
Wheel Rims: 15x7
Rear end: GM 10 Bolt 3.08 w/Posi
Fuel: 18gal custom fuel tank

As for my engine:
JE Pistons (Flat top?)
Edelbrock Perfomer Intake #2101
Stock GM Rochester Qudrajet 4MV
Ignition: HEI with MSD 6A or 6AL
K&N E-1650 14" air filter
CompCams camshaft (2nd choice Crane if I can't find a good CompCam)
Heads: GM 1971 LT1 350 #3973487
Manley Valves
March Performance Pulleys
Tuff Stuff 100W 1 wire alternator, GM
Total Seal rings

Exhaust: Flowmaster Delta 40 or 50 Series, 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" size
Probably will chose #942443

Fan: Spal 14 or 16"

A lot of other misc. parts but these are what I preliminarily picked out.

The rear may not the strongest point of the drivetrain but should still take some abuse before it gives it up.

Remember Chevy put the same rear behind 348s, and 409s they used in the '55 Chevy. So even these rears could handle some abuse.

There weren't too many 12 bolt posi's being used during the 1960s gasser wars. Mainly cause they hadn't come out yet.

Yep...run it until it breaks, then you'll know what the limit of it was.

Anything else I should look at?

I'm still sort of in the R&D phase of this project and when I make purchases I don't want to be making the wrong ones.

Oh, yeah and I forgot to mention I will be designing my own body, with the chassis to suit.

I'm gonna have the rear inspected and/or rebuilt before it goes on, maybe new axles too to give a longer life.

Well its been about 5-7 years since I started this project amidst some bleak reviews.

I've come to change my mind on a lot of things about the project, as well as the car I build.

I've also procured myself a lot of different items in the past and still not sure what I will choose out of the lot.

I went from choosing VDO Cockpit gages to Autometer UltraLite. That will be pretty much the same.

I've been toying around with several chassis designs and sizes.

Got myself a Edelbrock 2101 off eBay. And a Edelbrock 14" air cleaner. Still really havent chose a carb, but it will be
probably be a qjet, holley 650 or 750 or the Edelbrock 1406.
I got another K&N 14x3 filter the other day though.

Engine will be a 350 though. I do have a bare block I can use that I really don't know much about.
Needed a little cash had to sell the LT1 truck heads I bought.

Haven't completely made my mind up about the trans, though I have a TH350 that isn't in great shape.

I've chosen a lot of my parts based on what's readily available to me.

Anyone heard good things about royal purple 10w30? Other than it seems to go for over $8.00 a qt.
The 350 I guess seems to hold about 5 qts so that is what I bought.

So many people out there tell me that they choose CompCams but theres so many grinds and part numbers available its confusing.

I got several sets of rims still haven't settled on one set I will use.

Will probably stick with Wilwoods I did get more tech info from a few articles I read.

Anyone use the AC R45 plugs?

7 years and still a bare block, at this point i think you should sell everything you have, add $10,000 and buy a done car. this way you can burn some rubber. before the the first scoop is shoveled on top of you LOL!! Good luck.
