Are my rims too big?

I have a 1971 chevy nova, and I purchased a set of 17 x 8" Craiger SS's. I have the correct spacer for them, but I am afraid they will rub on sharp turns when I mount the tires. Does anyone know what size tires I should use to prevent rubbing?

A good tire shop should be able to help you out with that.

My '72 Nova sits a little low, and 225/60-15's (on 15x7 Rallys) rub on the center front fender-well bolt head. I removed it, and now it just barely keeps the surrounding area shiny. They also keep a small portion of the sub-frame shiny toward the rear, but that only rubs with the wheel at or near full-lock. I also bent the rear wheel-well lips upward so the rears won't get cut, but that might not have been absolutely necessary.

I have a 265-60-15 in the back, and they rub with 1/2 tank of gas. Depends on your offset too. Mine JUST barely miss the flanges.
