I don't see it being a problem. Come check it out in person if you wish.

Forget I said anything, you have done a STUNNING job for a guy of any age let alone an 18 year old. You should be VERY proud of that truck. I can't wait to see the rest of it.

I finally worked up the corage to look at this HUGE thread, glad I did

Pretty interesting fabrication ( in a good way)
How did you bend the tubing? they look like custom bends but it's hard to tell.

Oh, and I like the I4, it cool. You're building a lowrider not a racecar, Low riders cruise, slowly....

did you ever get it to run?

Thanks for checking it out!

I bent the tubing with a hydraulic tubing bender. The wishbone I had bent because I don't have a 1.5" die.

I did get it to run, but its failed smog 3 times. Probably going to fail again this Wednesday, but I've got to try. Its been hell trying to make it pass.

Same goes for me aswell

I shaved off the handles, emblems, antenna. My baby is clean aswell, sometimes haha.

I still have not gone through all the posts but from what i have seen you have done some amazing work. Good job!!!

Couldn't you just slip the guy a C-note at the smog station and be done with it?

Who said that???!!!

Thats getting riskier here in CA. A guy I knew lost his license last year for it. Also, an illegal smog starts at $300 here. They'll laugh at you if you offer anything less.

Also more money than I have to spend right now.

Beginnings of a nice ride

Just wanted to give you a few more words of encouragement, my husband didn't start his mini until he was 29, but it became his passion for more than the next 15 years. The only reason he's moving on to something bigger (a '51 Suburban) is a bigger family and we really don't fit in with the subcompact and mini crowd at shows much anymore. He's done a lot of judging on the east coast, and has been in a number of mini mag's "back in the day" if you have any questions his mini is still his first love, and we just wanted to say your off to a real good start! Good luck, nice ride! (BTW...The attachment is Mark's truck at all truck nationals last year at Carlisle)

When you put the carb on the first time did you do anything to it prior to install? The reason I ask is because you may have the wrong jets along with fuel pressure! There is a place in L.A. that imports japanese engines. Don't remember the name but you might want to give them a call. They may have the carb your looking for.Do you have to use that particular carb? Can't you use somethng else in the meantime and just get it to pass smog?

I am being anal, it will probably be fine. It isn't like I mean you are "hopping" like a low rider or something. But going up and down in any quick fashion is subjecting it to that on and off force like the thousands of times as the car drives down the road.

I'm no engineer, but I have been building stuff for years that works.

I was looking at the design for a while, I see some interesting design aspects, that are certainly put there for the look factor, but I think there is more than enough material there to do the job.

In all reality, the forward tube that goes up from the bag mounting plate and lands on the crossmember at the top of the "C" notch structure would do the job by itself with a small strut to the rear to stabilize it.

He has that in his design plus some.

I like simple, straightforward designs myself, but if a guy wants to make it look different and still do the job, my hat's off to him.

Hope you get your smog sorted out. Can you borrow a carb?

later, mikey

I can't afford an impound either. I'm in debt from trying to get it to pass already.

I can't run a different carb due to smog laws.

I may be borrowing a friends 22R carb tonight to try to see if I can make it believable.
