My Sbc Combo

I am needing cam help. The parts I have gotten thus far

358 CID CHEVY 4 BOLT
FLAT TOP PISTONS
GM STOCK FORGED CRANK
WORLD SPORTSMAN 2 HEADS (202/160 64cc chambers 200cc runners)
PERFORMER RPM INTAKE

I NEED CARB AND CAM RECCOMENDATIONS I am gonna cruise friday nights and be a weekend warrior. Automatic car, no gears or stall yet but will be buying gears and stall once I figure out the cam and engine combo.

Anyone have a similar combo if so how does yours perform?

going into a 72nova

The performer RPM cam would work fine with the appropiate stall. Gears will be very important in this combo as well. The highest ratio I would run would be 3.73`s, lower 4.11`s would likely be better but the 3.73`s leave room for streetability.

You have any idea what stall and gears you're leaning towards?

Can't go wrong with a Holley 650 or a Qjet. Edelbrocks are fine, but I give the nod to holley and Qjet for being slightly better carbs.

What head gasket and deck clearance? Looks like you're in the 9.3:1 range. I wouldn't go any bigger with the cam than what you have suggested.

You can't really think of it that way. You might pick up a little HP with a bigger cam, but it will come at the expense of HUGE downsides. You can make a 358 put out 900 hp, but its all about choosing the right combo for your car and intended purpose.

Selecting the parts for the "all out most power" will always disappoint.

Well Gears I am leaning towards 4.11
I am thinking with flat top and 64cc heads I will have around 10.3:1 or thereabouts maybe I am wrong I looked at this combo though from comp what do you guys think aside from the single plane intake it is almost mine. I have a touch more CID my intake i think works fine with the rpm range as well
