My three year old son is gonna be a wrencher!

My hubby gave our three year old (and youngest boy) some of his spare sockets and a socket wrench to keep as his own and a few spare shortie screwdrivers. Found him a "toolbox" to keep them in just like his big brother. That little guy is so proud of those tools, I found him in the garage one night after supper "fixing" his wagon with his new socket set. He was so intent on what he was doing that he completely ignored all the other neighborhood kids (including his brother and sister) playing in the cul de sac, a past time he usually can't wait to do.
Whenever Chuck is in the garage he has to give Nick little "jobs" to do to keep him busy so he doesn't get his hands into Daddy's tools. I've seen him "fix" the car tires and "check" the gas tank.
I see the beginnings of a pit crew there!
Guess we're gonna have to get my daughter some tools too! Maybe they'll help us build the Cobra!

Isn't that the greatest feeling?
I have to give my girlfriend's son "fun" jobs to keep him interested. He doesn't like using a wrench (with his cerebral paulsy it takes him a while and he gets frustrated), but loves the air tools and loves to clean with brake cleaner. I don't see the love in his eye yet, but the interest is getting there. He's noticing hot rods now and pointing them out to me (like I needed them to be pointed out, but the thought is there). Hopefully soon, I can call him my little wrencher, but for now, he's still my little helper.

My nephew is the one that's already there. At the age of 3, he would go to all the shows with us and could tell us if the car was a camaro, nova, chevelle, mustang, corvette. He even knew almost all the car mfgr's by the symbol. He's now almost 5 and we are trying get him to be able to tell the difference in the years. He knows what a 69 camaro looks like, and a 62 nova (wonder why..hehe). He's definatly going to carry on the tradition, as long as school doesn't change him over to rice ...
