Post mystery rearend

newbie question....
can anyone identify this axle:

<a href="" target="_blank">chevelle</a>

the axle is in a 65 chevelle ss that was backhalved and gutted some 20+ years ago.
i was under the impression that it was a 9", but there are no markings other than the number 11 cast into the 3rd member flange (picture)

also, the backing plate mounting flanges are complete circles, not like all of the 9's that i have seen, which have 2 flat sides...

if anyone has an idea please let me know....

Is the pinion in the center, equal distance from the left and right axles? It might be a 57/59 Pontiac/Olds rear.Used to have one but it has been years and don't remember too much about it.It resembles a nine inch.I think it had a 9 inch ring gear too.

From the measurements on the picture of the outside axle housing it appears to be an Olds/Pontiac rearend.

It does look like an early Olds (by that I mean after about '57,because of the number of splines) and those spider gears I don't think are even available anymore. I would get rid of those and get a spool if you plan on racing or a posi for the street (if you can locate one, spools I see, but posi's I don't). Those type spiders are illegal in almost if not all racing that I'm aware of, because they are weak and can give some very scary moments if one breaks.
