Name that frame..No really, I have no clue

I purchased a 55 Chevy Truck 2nd series. I was told it is sitting on a 78 Camaro frame. I am not sure if it was just the front clip or the whole frame. I cannot see any welds anywhere on the clip. This brings me to my main question. Can anyone tell if this frame is off a 78 Camaro or any year Camaro for that matter. Reason is, I am trying to replace the shackles on my rear leaf springs and there is a bracket attached to the old shackle however not attached to the frame and missing the bolt. I have searched everywhere for this bracket and I have not been able to find it...only the shackles and conversion kits (which I am trying to stay away from at this time. Here is pics I have taken, but I am not sure if they will help determine.

This is the bracket I am talking about

Myyself I would just get the tools out and fix it and move on with life..it is likely the front crossmember came from a Camaro if you need front end parts..Camaros never had a full frame, just the front part of the frame and the rest of the car was unibody..the frame clips worked well for a lot of guys who wanted an IFS from the wrecking yard tho..

Look real close at the frame just behind the engine.....You should be able to see where its joined to the rear frame section. If you cant see anything, then its not a Camaro frame, as OMT said, they were just a front clip.......It might be an s10 full frame, seems to be the popular thing to do these days.

I guess the problem is, is that I am trying to find the shackles and bolts for the correct frame and I'm trying to find out so I can purchase right parts. I will take a look at an s10 frame. Thanks for the input guys.

Near as I can tell from the photos that is the original frame, with a "Camaro" (that I am not sure of) clip welded on the front, you can see right under the firewall where the splice was made. These trucks have a frame that is very close to the same width of a few seventies GM cars and the Camaro sub frame splices on to them pretty well.

The rear spring shackles I can only guess have been modified to bring them in under the frame as the originals hung out on the side. I am thinking they brought them in so they could put wider tires?

Anyway it doesn't look like you need to replace the "shackles" you simply need to bolt it back up where it they had intended them to be. It looks like they bolt right up there as the holes in the frame look like they line up with the holes in the bracket.

Yeah that makes alot of sense about the wider tires now that you mention it. The only reason why I want to replace the shackles is because they look a bit brittle and cracked and I figured since the bed is off, it would be a good time to replace them. Thank you for that information, it helps alot
