Naming my car

I have been asked by several folks, what I named my car... She deserved a cool name, but I have been unable to think of one.

All the cool cars we see on TV seem to have cool names... Leadsled - Rootbeer Float - Chicayne

I thought about stealing the name Lucille, from the move Cool Hand Luke - George Kennedy ogles the buxom young lady washing her car and says "Lucille" - then says that anybody that looks that good has to be named Lucille.

Any ideas? (keep it nice)

"Igolide" - meaning gold in Zulu (A native language from South Africa)
Pronounced "Igoleede". Such a unique car deserves a special name....

I named Marge after someone I knew, my neighbor's mom, she was beautiful. Not that I had the hots for her or anything (honestly I didn't) but I remember her as being a beautiful woman and I thought it was perfect for Marge.

I try to make a connection somehow with stuff like that. My truck is Glenn after the guy I bought the cab from who worked at a local wrecking yard for years. He died right there in that office where I paid for the cab. I thought it fitting, he was a good guy.

I named my car Rusty. Don't have the faintest idea where I got that name.

It was either that or "Titanic".

Tell us about your car. That might produce some more fitting names.

I called my '68 Suburban "Louie" in honor of Louis Chevrolet. :-)

It paid me back for that! I sold it with 300,000 miles... and it still ran good!

The root beer float is one cool caddy. how about The Silver Ghost or Miss De Meanor , or "Pandora" maybe "Isabelle" most of the time cars are just named for their personality. like a buddies car always lurched from light to light so he called it Lurch and went with a adam's family type theme. Heck you may not come up with one till you put another few thousand miles. you will know it when the time comes. i called one years a go God dam it. because every week something broke.

You have my solemn oath that I will NEVER use that name for any of my vehicles...

I have several different names for mine, depending on their state of running and if a repair is going well.

I personally don't name any vehicle I have either...just a personal thing and if somebody does, that's fine.

Naming a care does give it that touch of endearment that is understandable, like it belongs in your family and is something close and special to the person that has had a big part in what the car has become to them....either from a mechanical or cosmetic point of view or both...that's why it's understandable.

Some vehicles that are Iconic have and should have names, like "The Batmobile", "The Munster Coach", "The Hemi Under Glass"...all Iconic cars...the most recent build and one that we are all familiar with that comes to mind is Randy's C-Cab...I can definitely see that vehicle get a name. It should because the manufacturer, Randy, hasn't named it yet.

Many years ago when I first bought my Firebird, I was asked the same question, "what are you going to name your car?" I turned to the person that asked the question and said "Pontiac already did."

Bob, you have a great car...love the looks and the passion you've put into it...it's not just a 33 Ford anymore by any means...and can see why you'd like to give the car a name. The feature that most people see immediately is the color...something like Mocha...with an adjective after Mocha would come to mind...or if you take the name of the color (what ever that is) and add to it with another feature from the build will always accentuates whats important to you and tells the story of the car, the build and about you personally.

Just my opinion.

Ray
