I agree. Every rule change hurts the little teams a lot more than the big ones. They strive for parity, but in their manic quest for 'sameness', they end up penalizing some teams way more than others.

Personally speaking (not that it will ever happen) I wish they'd tell the factories that for 2014, whatever the nose, pillars, roof and hood/decklid looks like, that's what's gonna be run. Obviously the wheelwells, roof flaps, air ducts, spoiler/air dam, etc. would be added and these could be made identical for them all. If that means that one year a certain make dominates, so be it- it wouldn't happen more than once though, before they'd all buckle down. The upshot of it might even mean a better car on the showroom floor.

Hell, I wouldn't mind one little bit if they were all required to use a production-based engine. Dream on, I know.

I'm always hearing the talking heads on Speed, etc. going on about how "the fans" asked for this or that" and how France/NASCAR has so graciously responded by giving them "what they want".

Who are these so-called "fans"??

All I know is, nobody has ever asked ME one damned thing.

thats what they had in the late80's all through the 90's and early 2000's and nascar rule changes happened almost weekly.. more spoiler less front airfoil... it KILLED the smaller teams ..
the roof/deck/hood/etc was factory outer skins..
hell teams had different front frame clips for different tracks.. and when a rule change came down.. they had to redo a bunch of cars.. that may have never even seen track time.. sorry no team misses those days..

New week time for us to have some fun with NASCAR How much time will they spend time talking to Danica,which Bush will run the best I say Kurt will run in the top 5 . Go out on a limb and say JJ will win They do go to Calif,don't they forgot to even see where they are at.

If you think Nascar does only things that people who are at the race track want, you're dreaming. The people at the track do not even make a blip on their radar. It's the people sitting at home- watching the hundreds of ADVERTISERS who are on during the course of a race- who get listened to, if anyone.

The more time they have her on, the more time I just sit and drool

She is on pace to supplant "joon-yer" as "most popular" with more folks tuning in see her than to see any other - all of which sells advertising and grows the money bins

Tragically, if she could only actually DRIVE instead of needing to have the yammering heads forever making excuses 'cause "she's a rookie" (like a bunch of other rookies - including her current main squeeze - who do not seem to need to that excuse recited every 3-4 minutes)

However, the "at track" attendance was WAY down, the TV audience was dropping and the sport was in trouble - until a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and failed Indy driver got behind the wheel of one of the cars and....

I have come to the conclusion that what the sport needs to become the single most popular sport in the entire world is to reserve 10 of the 43 starting spots in each race for gorgeous ladies. (Maybe we could even get of those noisy, smelly, environmentally hazardous cars? )

And NO I am not seriously proposing that, but the finances seem to show that this would make the most $$$ - esp if the ladies wore bikinis instead of firesuits!

Now if someone would pony up the $$$$ to put Johanna Long into a good ride, as well --- Just think of all the talking heads, the photo-ops, the attention from media (other than Automotive media) if we had TWO absoultely gorgeous brunettes in the starting field for the next Daytona 500! (Johanna might be even better looking than Danica!)

From the standpoint of promoting the sport - well - it'd be good if she won one or two as well but with BOTH of them just being there, looking curvy in a firesuit and being interviewed - ratings would just take off!
