I loved using Nason 2k Urethane. I used it for my first job and use it everytime after. For got the pro and cons but remembered that it was the best under the single stage painting area. According to the 101 auto painting DVD that i picked up

Nason single stage urethane is great paint for several reasons, 1) if it's a solid color (not metallic) you can wet sand out a run, sag or dirt nibs. Then buff to a good shine. 2) you can also apply clear coat over it right away for a deeper looking finish.
Other reasons for using it is, Very durable, and holds up longer than acrylic enamel. Frank

Bad is that it doesn’t hide as much as enamel so in other words is that it is thinner.
Good is that it is very easy to use and what you see is what you get. Once your done spraying, that is what the finished job will look like. It is very durable and I think the out of dust time is about a half hour. I’m very happy with it. |

Acrylic enamel stays soft a long time, some say forever,
even when using a hardener. It's at the bottom of the line for durability. Urethane is at the top for durability, it sets up rock hard in just a day or two and is really hard to scratch off. It's one of the toughest finishes available. You can clear coat it just like a basecoat too. I sometimes use it in place of a basecoat.

Anything shiny, be it lacquer, AE or urethanes are going to show flaws.. Its what the gloss does.. Nature of the beast regardless if you use urethane or ae..
i would focus on getting the body work straight, then focus on the paint itself.. If you cut it short now, you will never be happy with the end result and always regret having not spent more time trying to get it right.. JMO |
