Nason SelectClear over HOK Shimrin Base Paint?

Is Nason SelectClear a good clear for use over HOK Shimrin Metallic Base Coat? Or should I stick with HOK clears?

Thanks

Being the guy I am I like to stick with a product line when selecting materials..unless you go with an epoxy clear I would use the HOK clear.

It should be noted that some of the guys have had some disasters by mixing different brands of paint on one car..Or playing chemist or whatever..

I have to agree with OMT and also add if you can afford the HOK paint why not the HOK clear ? It would be a shame to spend all the time and $$ and go with a cheaper clear and disaster hit.

Take Care
Earl

I have used the Nasson clear over the HOK bases and It worked great.
I do all my graphics that way.
I don't think you'll have any problem with any "good" clear over
any HOK base, and Nasson is a pretty good clear.

believe me i use alot of hok every year and none of it gets cleared with hok and it also doesn't go on top of hok primers either. never used the nasson stuff but i have used chromaclear over it with great results. not to say omt is wrong at all. as a general rule thats a good practice to follow. i'm just telling you from expierence.

Thanks a bunch guys. That is just the type of info I was looking for.

I think I might just go with the KOSMIC KOLOR URETHANE ENAMEL KLEAR UC-35 the savings, at least with the prices I have found on the Nason Clear is very minimal. Is the Kosmic Kolor Urethane clear a good choice? I see they have a more expensive one as well...what's the difference?

I am planinning on using 2k primer from someone else though. I think I can save quite a bit more $ on that.

Thank you guys.

Yes on both questions.
UC-35 is a great clear and if you plan on "flow coating" or a second application after color sanding the 35,Go with the UFC-35 as it's designed specifically for this, The UC wil do a great job by itself and will "look" better in appearance than the Nason.
I use the 497 (yeah,it's the RIGHT number this time ) all the time and it is a great product but the HOK will give you more luster in comparison.

mrcleaner6 is mrHOK around here so he KNOWS what works in thier line.

Sounds good. Thanks for the follow up. I guess I will just go with the UC-35. I am way over budget as is so I don't think I will be able to follow up with ufc.

Thank you again.

Yup, I think so. If you go to the hok website it says Valspar on there on every page. I think all the hok products are still the same though.
