Nason SS "Jet Black" color code

Hi All,

I went to my local paint store to inquire about Nason paint. I am looking for "Jet Black", I am not really sure if that is a color but the sales guys wanted to know the vehicle model and such. I think in the past I have use a PPG 9700 black that was so black it looked blue. Can anyone give me a code for a basic jet black Nason SS? I would like to do the inside of my engine compartment in a shinney black color. The Dupont website did not give me alot of information on color charts.
Thanks.

I know in Centari, the paint code for a true black is 99A. Called Pitch Black.
I think the same numbers are used across different types of paint in Dupont, ir at least they used to do that. For example, I have some Centari, and Acrylic Lacquer for one of my Datsun pickups, Factory code 558, Dragon Green
The Centari has a Dupont code 31025A.
The Acrylic Lacquer Dupont code is 31025L.
Nason might follow the same numbering scheme, or you might be able to cross reference it.

For what it is worth, the whitest white I have found is Dupont 817. This is a GM code 14
This truck has the 31025 Dragon Green, and the 817 White on the wheels.

I can check to see if they can do a cross reference. The sales guy wanted to know what car model to reference but I assume there are many colors of black, BMW, Mercedes, porsche black? I just want the a basic jet/true black.

What your running into is the fact that everything is in a computor and with out a paint code most of these kids working at the parts stores cant find their butt. If they can find it in the computor thier lost.

In the old days, black was black was black. When basecoat/clearcoat finishes came along, we started getting more than one black "black". And then we had black metallics.

Now days, it's best to check the color code and crossmatches.
