Hey fellas I need a small sander to get into tight spots that my da ends up not doing to well...I'm on a tight budget right as I'm about to add an addition to my shop&put log siding on my home with a metal roof so for something I won't be using. A lot I don't wanna best the bank so don't bash me but I'm looking @ 2 harbor freight items..the first one is a small angle die e grinder&Ill buy some 2&3 inch discs&rubber backing pads.
The other one is the 2 in mini orbital sander.The only thing is its hook&loop&Id rather it be adhesive so I can just cut my da discs down but ohwell.Any of you guys have any experience with. either?I've never used an angle die grinder as a sander but I have heard of it being done.
What I really need it for is for the doors around the mirrors&on body panels that are bubbled ai guess you could call it.Well thanks in advance fellas.

I use the angle die grinder and 2" rolocs and it works well..Anything that will not get into requires a spot blaster..

I also have both. I use the little DA all the time on detail stuff. The discs can be purchased in bulk on Ebay. Very reasonable.

I have been impressed with the durability of the little DA. It gets no respect and keeps going..

I just got a speed blaster mini blaster with the recovery bag and it's amazing for crevices. I like the idea now of hand stripping and using the blaster for crevices and what not. I also got Chicago Pneumatic 3" sander and it's awesome, but as you said it comes with hook and loop style pad. The paper wears out fast if you have it on high and if I were doing stuff at home with it not sure I'd want to pay for the paper, it's expensive! Even if you don't find a pad for one you can still save money by cutting out 80 grit hook n loop paper for a 6" da. As far as using a die grinder you can use the fiber disks but they can wear out quickly.

especially when the little notch in the head that provides the orbital action gets banged around to squeeze the pad in some crevice. I heard that...little workhorses indeed.

if you go to the accessories you will find the hot spot recovery bag, which is a great thing to have with it. No sales tax and if you buy a couple cheap blocks or something else and get your order to $99 it's free shipping. GREAT service. 3 days top on delivery. Love that place.

Keep in mind I use it with an 80 Gallon compressor so can't tell you how it would work with a smaller one, but not only awesome for stripping it's great to weld over too. Just makes your welds look nice and pretty, even with weld thru primer on top.
