Need Answer Fast - SBC LT1
What is the difference between the early model SBC motors and an LT1 motor out of a 1996 Z28? Will the heads off of the LT1 fit a 70's 350 or 400 SBC?

Quick answer, no. LT1 heads will not fit an early sbc. The LT1 is a reverse flow engine in that coolant flows in the reverse direction. The coolant ports (as well as others I believe) do not match up.

Do a search, tons of info recently here.
There are similar in some aspects; crankshafts, pistons, rods, valvetrain, and a couple other tihings interchange. Heads, water pump, intake, distributor, timing set are all different.

It has been done,but the coolant ports have to be welded up heads re surfaced new ports drilled,In the end its not really worth it,I had a website where they put LS series heads on a FORD
 but then my bookmarks went bye bye  .Shane

As was mentioned, it could be done (but really what can't these days). But its not really a viable solution and will be more expensive than almost any other alternative.
