Bomber seats

I've been kicking around the idea of bomber seats too. They should drop quite a few pounds from what I currently have. However, in my 46 truck, they need to be elevated about 12-15 inches off the floor. A simple pedestal mount might work, since they wouldnt have to slide. Kind of thinking as I write. Speedway has some aluminum productions for around $180 ea.

im working on plans for seats, below youll see the start of the design im working on

its drawn up as a flat sheet, and the green lines are all bends so that i can preview the design

after i get the look i want, ill split it into seperate pieces for fab and allso add the braces that would be needed, and holes for seatbelts

id show a 3d preview, but my computer doesnt want to render it right now

In the 50's when guys were desperate for anything to make their car look better or when they used whatever was cheap, a lot of rods used seats out of Bomber planes from World War II It started a trend and nowadays original bomber seats are rare, but plenty of people are building their own.

Hi
I have a article from American Rodder July 2004 that shows how to make the seats you want. Nick's seats.
I can see if I can make a .pdf file to send you if you want?

Have fun
Tom
