Speakers may not be your answer. You would be better off getting a bigger amp. If your speakers are rated to handle 100 watts of power, get an amp that puts out more than that. The amp will still be producine a clean sine wave output and you'll be in less danger of blowing the speaker. A 100 watt stereo will not sound twice as loud as a 50 watt stereo. What it will do is put cleaner power (sine wave) to the speaker, letting you drive the speaker to its maximum potential. A 50 watt stereo for example, will "clip" the sine wave to more of a square wave shape. What does that mean? Distortion. Heat. Fried voice coils. Blown speakers.
Too much bass going through a small, full range speaker will give you intermodulation distortion. A single speaker cone has trouble reproducing bass and treble sounds clearly at the same time. Go for 2-way or 3-way speakers.
You'll blow a speaker rated at 100 watts faster with a 10 watt amp than you will with a 500 watt amp.
