Need to figure out the year of this truck

my nine year old son and I found this Ford pu in a junk yard near our home the other day and we are thinking of building him a ruf rod project. Not too sure what year it is, 35-37 I believe. Is there any way to tell for sure? Aaron

The V-8, trans, drive shaft and rear end is still in it, friction shocks and front sway bar, wide 5 bolt pattern, along with 50 years of vines and critters.

Look at my project journal for the pics

It looks like the frame is still there. You should be able to find the serial number stamped into the frame and then go to the web site below to find what year it is. The serial number is stamped in three places on the frame. That is explained in the web site link also.

Ok, it's a 35 or 36, most likely a 36. The 37's had a split windshield, and from what I can see in the pics, your windshield frame is still their and does not have the bar in the middle.
The main difference between a 35 and 36 is the bottom of the windshield pillar coming up from the cowl area. On a 35 it's still kinda flat and square, and on the 36 it's more rounded.
Also (not that this will do you any good), the 36 had a "deeper" grille, from front to back, and the V8 hood emblems are further forward on the hood sides.
Keep in mind that steel fenders, running boards, and bed parts are like gold for these trucks.
With all that said, good luck and have fun.

Ok, just looked at the pic of my 35 on the trailer, and you can clearly see the way the windshield post "ends" abruptly at the cowl, compared to the one in your pics. Look at mine and you'll see the difference. Based on that, I'd definitley say yours is a 36.
