carb rambling

most reliable carb i've seen:
66 gmc 305 V6 one barrel carb still works great. Never been rebuilt. Can sit for over one year and never gums up. the adjustment linkages are worn but still function. good for low rpm low mpg applications. jet must be huge?

good carb:
65 mustang 289 4BBL. Pretty much trouble free. Must change accelerator pump diaphram every few years; very easy and quick. Rebuild about every 20 years; easy rebuild. Can sit for over one year without gumming up.

good carb:
edelbrock. mine sat for 2 years with stabil. much trouble w/ plug fouling after long storage. i had to do a complete overhaul. carb was gummed up. lost faith in stabil. my 64 1/2 4bbl mustang sat for same time w/ stabil and still runs fine. i like edelbrock because tuning is straight forward, performance is pretty good and it does not leak.

least favorite:
Qjet. Qjet performs nice but is a pain to rebuild.
