Question need HEI measurement on SBC

Trying to locate the motor mounts for my sbc on my 39 chev truck frame. Approximately how far does an HEI hang over the back of the block? Not much room to work with and my cab is off the frame. Planning on a 4" recessed firewall but need to fab the mounts now. THANKS

about 1/2 of an inch, not measuring where the wire harness plugs in or the vacuum advance.

Installed height, complete with Accel coil is eight and a half inches. That's measuring from the intake manifold next to where the distributor drops through, to the top of the coil. If you do not run a Crossfire cap, you'll have to allow room for a plug wire or two to pass behind the cap.

Happy fabricating!

Thanks guys. I think if i position the motor 2 1/2 inches back from where the original firewall was i should have enough room.
