need help 1951 inline six upgrade

I currently have a 1951 styleline deluxe with a bad 235 splash engine in it. I would like to do a simple and cheap swap does anyone have any thoughts? I currently know where I can get a complete nice running 235 blue flame from a 1956 / 57 belair. Would this bolt right in? What changes would I have to do to install in my 51?

Why not rebuild it? It would be relitively cheap and will keep the car "numbers matching".

yea, babbit pounders are expensive to rebuild, assuming you find a machine shop willing to do the machine work, like machine the block for insert bearings or have it re babbited.. the direct bolt in is the '53-'54 235.. even looks original as it used the same 2 bolt center bolt valve cover.. '55-'62 blocks used a water pump that doesn't fit in the smaller '49-'54 chassis and it will need tinkering to make it fit, tho it can and has been done..

nothing sounds as good as twice pipes, glass packs, lowered look and skirts, nozed and decked, takes me back over 50 years ago in high school ! ! ! We ran a truck carb and high lift rockers, new timing gear, it was faster than the fords
