I bought a sbc 400 with H616CP pistons, the guy I bought the engine from said that the block had been 0 decked, I'm planning on using 64cc heads. Could someone tell me the compression ratio of this engine.

you need to know what head gasket you are going to use but should be some where around 11-1 maybe a little bit more

I dont know why they would have spent all that money to deck the block and buy standard pistons why wouldnt he have had it board .030 most all 400 sbc even low mileage ones have worn cylinder walls do to short rods they push the piston in to the cylinders causing more wear

I do have a 400 sbc in my camaro I love the engine but you should have it board and put 6" rods and proper pistons in it

Thanks for the reply backyardracer. It has been bored .30 with 5.7 rods I was going to use a 0.39 gasket
