|
need help with 29 chevy ignition switch
the org. 29 switch has a short. can i put a new style switch to replace the old one, the old one has the neg. coil wire going through it. can it be wired straight from dis. to the coil?

Cars of that close age, had all sorts of weird systems advertized as anti=theft devices. Ford was different with their Pop-Out ign & armored cable, Mopar had a bundle of fake wires going to the switch to make it hard to hotwire.
...and chevy? I don't know that system  If it's a nice car worth keeping stock, can you get a repro?or just use common sense if you wire in a modern one; meaning the switch controls the + coil wire, and you'd need a new wire from points to the coil.
