Post need help with alchool and diesel+propane

I have tried to find stuff on the net about alchool fueled motors. I know a little about them. There are different types of alchool, one is fairly easy to use the other is really hard. I am looking to build a car, with a small displacement motor. Around 1.6-1.8L to run on alchool. It will not be daily driven nor does it have to be street legal. I will drive it but only to LOCAL cruises and I will drag her on the strip. Any info or a point in the right direction will be very helpful. Another quickie. Does anyone have any exp with using propane on a diesel, it can be done same as juice but I have never done it personaly. I would like to maybe try that one as well, just for kicks.

Matty here are some links.

BTW forget the other alcohols, methanol is the only one you can buy in bulk. Besides the wealth of experience running this fuel in racing makes it the natural choice.

personally i would go with the alcohol motor, the octane rating of methanol equals arround 130 so you can run much higher compression ie 16:1 or massive turbo boost. like 30 psi on a 9:1 motor. methanol is less energy rich and since it contains oxygen the mixture is much richer than with gasoline, giveing you lousy milage but a coolrunning powerfull motor. you might have success running CNG, compressed natural gas (octane 160) as an alternative fuel for performance. bot i would contact Kinsler or Rons performance products and get an alcohol injector

bu the way i saw on hilborns homepage that they have a special on some injectors for some 4 cyl motorcycles, how about buying one of those and all you then hav eto do is fabricate a manifold..

Here in the Gopher State there are over 60 gas stations that sell E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline). My street-legal sprint car that is under construction will run on this fuel. The engine has 11 : 1 compression and I anticipate no detonation problems with this combination. I'm doing this because I enjoy tinkering with new ideas and methods. Also, in a VERY small way, I'm telling the Arabs to take their oil and drink (shove) it !
