Ford block? Their casting numbers usually are somewhat of a part number.

Yea, that's a Ford casting number. The block is the third (fourth?) revision of a 1969 block. Someone else can tell you what the rest means.

1969 351W cylinder block (bare).

The suffix of a FORD PN does not always ascertain design development. It could also mean a different part introduced in the same year, front or rear, left or right or finish type.
