Need Help choosing and auto tranny
 

I have a 1991 gmc sierra 2wd pick up. I put a modified 350 in instead of the stock 305 tbi. I keep smoking the tranny out of the truck for some reason. It is a 700r4. I believe the motor has 350ish hp. I just cant figure it out. I want the overdrive tranny but this is going on the 3rd transmission.

A proper built 700 trans would have no problems with that HP level you mention.

Who is building the trans for you? Experienced shop ? :pimp:

You pulling gobs of weight with 2.73 gears?

are u carbed or efi if using aftermarket carb u need the correct linkage and brackets to make it work properly

No one is building them they are just stock transmissions. and yes it is carberated but i have a floor shifter so i shift it manually. The rear gears are 3:73's and i dont use is for working its just my everyday driver.

The TV cable adjustment is uber critical and has to be correct!! If it isn't, bye-bye trans...:sweat::pain:;)

I guarantee if it was a quality rebuild, and your driveline is all in alignment; that your TV cable is FUBAR and you need to correct its geometry or keep buying 700r4's...BTO is one source but there are others

I just picked up a new one this morning. 72000 KMS for 250 bux. Do I still need to adjust the TV cable still?
