need help finding hedders

57 3100 with 283 and stock steering box. Plenty of room on pass side but the hedders that came on truck have been flattened at least 50% closed to clear the box. Any one know of a pair that will fit? Another question why dont they make the hedders the same shape on both sides of eng. Most of the hedders I have seen, the shape of the pass side would work mint on the drivers side.

I take it you want full length, not clipsters or block huggers?

You will need something like these because of the steering box: http://www.ecklerstrucks.com/chevrol...1955-1987.html Some early Chevy Vans and Corvettes used a header with the tubes coming together across the flange like these but with longer primaries.

There are a number of options, depending on what your after. Block huggers and clipsters are fine for a mild street motor. Long tube headers are the better choice for high HP motor. Fenderwell headers could be used or you could by a kit and build your own.

I used block huggers that I modified on my last (2) hot rod builds, basically cutting off the collector and welding 2-1/2" mandrel bent tubes to get the collector flange down and away from the motor.
