Post need help once again.

i got a free tranny today, the guy said the reverse gear was out, but hey you can't beat free. anyways i got some numbers off of it and i want to see if any of you guys could help me out.

one one side, it says GM6 338955 and off so one side it says H?24(can't make out the second number)

on another side of the tranny it says 8261886

And it was made, well, manufactured or assembled or? by either GM or one of it's myriad suppliers or so-called "Partners".

But it is in English?

it came out of a chevy truck but im not sure if its the original tranny or not, he claims its a muncie, i didn't know whether to believe him or not but he gave it to me so i don't know why he would lie about it. its also a four speed(at least thats waht he says.

If it is a Muncie 4 speed, Ecklers Corvette sells a video that details the rebuilding of the transmission.
