Need help on picking transmision

hey guys i need help im 17 years old and i have built my own hot rod its a 1978 camaro with a 376 small block. 1991 alunimum corvette heads. mutha thumpr cam, high rise intake, 670 street advenger carb 10:1 compression....behind it i have a coles built transmission 3 speed turbo 350 with a 2800-3200 stall and my rearend in a 8.5 10 bolt with 4:11 gears. my motors redline is 6100. ok my probelem is it gets to top speed really fast but about at 110 mph its redlines runs out of gears.... i do not want to change my rear end but my uncle is telling me if i get a good 5 speed manual it will make my top end way better because i will have 2 more gears ... can i get some input on what i need to do for better top end..... this is not a drag car just a weekend tire slinger. any help would be nice tell me what you think and what transmission names i should look for.

well dang no one wants to help me out lol all i want to know is if a 5 speed manual will lower my rpms thus allowing my car to go to higher mph

Well- the actual end result will be about the same as the auto.the final drive ratios are all around .73-1- in old days before the od trannys it was always 1-1- yet today with any od. trans all about the same- must change rear end ratio to get any large benefit in speed

a 5 speed is gonig to be costly..
the t-5 will not live long behind your engine.. in fact.. g.m. would not sell a 3rd gen with a 350/5spd
if you want a stick.. you'll need a tko 5spd or find a t56 6spd and plan on 2-3 grand to change it over..
if you stay with an auto a good rebuilt 7004r or 2004r will run you about 1200-1400+ converter and new driftshaft (if 7004r)
I'd see if you can find 3:73 rear gears first.. and try them..
as they are a ton cheaper...

Sounds like your setup is pretty good, but it's clearly not a highway cruiser.
T350 tranny is a good choice, but it is just a 3-spd with a 1:1 final ratio - 9/10ths turbine to impeller loss.

You didn't mention your rear tire diameter, but if you are running small tires with 4.11 gears, that would be a higher RPM setup.
Are you trying to go faster, or save fuel? ( Or both? )

If you don't mind giving up some acceleration force, you could just run 3.55 or 3.73 rear gears.
Using your rear tire diameter, calculate the speed and RPM's you want, and choose the corresponding gearset. A gear-swap is cheaper and easier than trying to do a tranny swap.
If you want to keep your 4.11's... think about a 700r4 and some taller tires.
Since it's not a dedicated drag car, I would do the gears.

im running 26 inch back tires......im kind of not understanding right now haha......373 gears would increase my mph to how much? i also though the more gears a tranny had the more speed you could gain...(im still a youngin) just gathering all the knowlege i can.......would a five speed manual benifit a street car at all?
