need help with putting the plug wires ....

I got a question about a 84 ram pickup 250. This is what it was doing..

It would flood out when we gave it gas and tried to accelreate fast. We could accelrate like mrs daisy and slowly get up there but it would flood and backfire. A friend of mine said it sounded like the plug wires were mixxed somewhere .. so we went to autozone and they printed out the correct firing order and wich cylander was wich and where they went on the distribtur

so we came home and my friend yanked the wires off and put them back on the way autozone little printout said..... being 1-3-5-7 on driverside and 2-4-6-8 on passanger side

and now it wont start when it tries to start it shoots fire out the carb and yeah its nasty.

The way he put the wires back on are completly different then the origional way, and i have no way of knowing wich way they supposed to go on w/o buying a book.. wich im tryinng to avoid doing cuz its not my truck

Autozone gave us a printout on a 318, but I think it might be a 360?

any help would be appreciated!

Go to the library, most of them have a Haynes or Chiltons manual including a trouble shooting section. You could have two plug wires wrong, or be off by one all the way round, or be way out on timing (did the distributor move at all?)

I'm not sure the plug wire were the problem to begin with, but it sounds like they are part of the problem now. I would also be looking at the plugs, maybe a carb rebuild kit (they are cheap)...

Here´s a site with firing orders, find and click yours.

BTW, welcome to the site chris99873

and, 318cu in = 5.2 liters 360cu in = 5.9 liters.
