Need help with sewing seat covers

Hello everyone, I'm re-covering a pair of Fiero seats and making patterns and sewing them myself. I'm looking for advice on the seat back top portion where your head would rest. The seat does not use a separate removable headrest, its all sewn together. Tonight I had sewn the three pieces (5 and 6 in pic)that make up the headrest portion (2 sides and the middle). I had sewn the rest of the seat back together already (1,2,3,4 in pic). To sew on the headrest portion I turned both the seat back and headrest assemblies inside out and managed to get them sewn together somewhat centered after 2 tries. Did I do the order of assembly wrong? Was sewing the 3 piece headrest together making it more difficult ?Should the center of the headrest be sewn to the center seat back first? and the sides of the headrest come last? Any advice is greatly appreciated. The picture is not mine. Thanks Vinny

No, you sewed it in the correct order, you just picked a seat cover that is really hard to sew for someone new at the whole process. If they aren't going together correctly, your patterns may need tuning.

No one lives forever, the trick is creating something that will.

Thanks Dan, I thought I was assembling in the wrong order as I just did it the way it makes sense to me. I may have read in one of your tutorials to work from the center out. The original cloth seats were sewn with 3/8'' selvage, and my assembled covers fit a little loose. I may have added a 1/16'' when I traced my patterns. Overall for a first attempt on ''throw away vinyl'' I was pleased with the outcome. I'll make adjustments before sewing on the good stuff. Best regards-Vinny
