There is a purple wire that is 12 gauge, that will hook to the "S' terminal of the starter

The other 2 wires are most likely fuse links that bolted under the big post on the starter where the big cable goes, they feed the vehicle its power, they are circuit protection devices.

The purple wire (running from the ignition switch and down through the metal tube on the back of the engine) goes to the S terminal.

All the rest of the wires connect to the large starter terminal. In most cases it should be these three wires.
- large (2 gauge?) wire running up along the flange of the oil pan to a point where the mechanical fuel pump mounts (I assume you have an electric pump), over toward the frame, and then to battery positive
- 10 gauge with fusible link running up through a metal tube on the back of the engine and up to alternator BAT terminal
- 10 gauge running through the same metal tube and up to the fuse box
