Need to ID a 305 or 350 engine

I got a 1983 Camaro to day guy told me it was a 350 NOT stock to the car. I'm trying to find out if it is really a 350 or a 305. I can not get to the back of the heads to check them number or the back of the block. Their is all of 1/2 inch of room behind the engine.

Their is no number on the front of the heads or on the front of the motor at all. I can not get to the side of the block to see if their are any numbers ether.

I have read online that the harmonic balancer/damper is bigger on a 350 thin 305 but their interchangeable.

Besides breaking the motor down or pulling the motor is their any other way to tell if its 305 or 350.

It wont help but the intake is a gm cfm 14057053.

Well after a very hard time I got some numbers off the back of the block which are 1401020 I guess their is a number missing but even with that many numbers its a 305.

Why do people have to lie.

This is where you need a good strong flashlight and a mechanic's mirror......

On all Gen I chevy motors, there is a stamped alpha-numeric identification on the PASSENGER SIDE BLOCK DECK, just in front of where the cylinder head ends. The number will be there if the block has not been decked and thus removed by a machine shop. Sometimes it is behind/under the alternator or other accessory that is hung from the end of the cylinder head.

The part im hating most is I text the guy and told him I ran the block number and its a 305.

The guy text back NO its a 350.

LOL WTF I had to give it to him like he was slow THE BLOCK ID NUMBERS RUN AS A 305.

I really like the its not stock part and the block numbers say 80-84 chevy mostly in Camaros BONE STOCK ALL THE WAY.
