need info on Edelbrock rpm performer and..

need info on Edelbrock rpm performer and..a stock low compression truck 350..Edelbrock information says 1500-6500 rpm for the manifold. The Performer manifold is idle to 5500. I found a good deal on a rpm performer with 600cfm Holley, but I am concerned that my idle with other components being stock will not be good. What do you think? Should I wait and find the lower rise performer or will the rpm performer be OK?

It will be in 39 Pontiac.

Bob

Personally, I"d wait. The regular performer will be a better choice for a stock engine.

Thanks Jmark for the quick reply..that's my thought too. I'm supposed to check out the RPM and Holley in the morning, but I think I will call the guy and cancel. I believe a Performer and Edelbrock 600 is more what I'm looking for. I just want to get the car on the road by spring or early summer. The engine runs good now and I am just going to clean it, chrome it up and maybe next winter I will build a stronger engine if it feels like it needs one.

Yes Shane, that would be a good choice also I think. I have been watching eBay for either the Performer or the Performer EPS.

I agree. The perfRPM is great, but on a stock engine like yours it will give up some torque in the low end. Where it really shines is up high and you wont have the cam and compression to ever see it.

Hold out for a performer. There are probably 4000 on ebay
