need info on engine swap

i need help im swapping a 350 tbi engine from a 87 Chevy suburban into a 82 Chevy caprice classic. I need to find out any info about if i need to use the o2 sensors or if i can block them ?

I believe you need to use them this is how the engine figures out how lean or rich to make the engine. So if you get rid of them then it will either flood out or burn up.

it will run in failsafe open loop w/o them

How due you plan on doing this, anyway you look you will need a computer to run the engine. If your going to use the engine why not just use the original harness and computer. Then just weld bungs on the exhaust for o2 sensors. If you run that engine with out o2 it will run open wich means dump fuel. Just add the o2, and if you can not pay someone the 50 bones to install the bungs in the exhaust.

87 and 82 are quite different. The 87 is a one piece seal crank which requires a different flywheel/flexplate.

The 87 is all electronic controls, the 82 is a partial invasion, the 87 will not run off the 82 system unless you install everything 87 into the car right down to the fuel tank, pump and lines. Or back convert the 87 to 82 where the first problem will be that the 82 intake won't bolt to the 87 heads without a lot of carving.
