Several Camaro supplier web sites have kits that show you the factory marking for SS, RS, and Z/28. They are however not free. Be wary of some cheap books on early Camaro's in book stores that show markings, they are not correct. Case in point is the the cowl stripes on the Z/28, several books show them extending all the way down on the cowl. They do not, they stop at a line mid point down on the cowl behind the rear edge of the hood.

Also, the stripes go on OVER the clear coat, not under it, like most people do it.

markings..

I would like to find information showing like spring markings, factory stampings, chalk and crayon markings. I found very little information on these in the books I have read and online searches have been no good.

I had a friend who was restoring a 68 Camaro years ago, when those markings came up he said "To hell with them" he figured if he couldn't go get the dude who put the mark on and have him redo it, it was BS.

All I know is, don't worry so much about making them perfect, there were no two alike. Just run past the car and stop for a second to write it, that is what the worker did back then.

I agree with Brian, too much is being made of this BS nowadays. No two are in the same place.

marking...

It really isn't a big big deal but this is a low mileage RS convertible with nice options, all numbers matching and I'm doing a full frame off resto trying to make it look as factory new as I possibly can and thought I would put those markings on as I reassemble it just because it would be easy to do as I go. I run into articles all the time saying their car has the factory markings but I can not find any resources for showing what gets marked, how it gets marked and with what does it get marked. It is making me wonder where they got the information from and how can I get my hands on it?.
