He was only one of the greatest pinstriper/artist/custom builders of all time! Its too bad that you didn't get to meet him before he passed away. He was a very interesting guy.
Later,
WEIMER

There is s fellow doing a full length feature film documentary on Ed's life and times. Supposed to have come out already but he promises it will come out eventually. Any kid who grew up in the 60s idolized Ed and built Revell models of all his crazy cars.

There was a short narrow 70(?) at the drags last night. BBC running 10.40's? or so. You are in Nebraska so i'm sure you can relate to the idea of a powerful truck more than some of the city slickers around here (jabs ribs of city slickers )

Here are a few books that are a must-read for those wanting to know Ed better.

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth by Pat Ganahl
The Art of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth by Douglas Nason & Greg Escalante
Hot Rods by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth
Confessions of a Rat Fink: The Life and Times of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth

The first two are still in print. The last two are not in print but show up on ebaY quite often. The third one is a must have since it tells much of the story of each of his great cars. The last one listed is a pretty big book by Ed himself and shows the darker side of his story including his feuds with Revell, Hot Rod Magazine, and other business associates along the way. All add a uniquely different twist to the whole story.
