I have a pulling truck the engine is a 350 4bolt main 0.030 flat top pistons, a lunati voodoo cam 284/292 duration 525/546 lift hydraulic flat tappet cam, world sportman2 heads ported, weiand x-celerator intake long tube headers, holley carb 750 jeted dual feed double pumper. 2"open spacer, msd distributor and box. 1.5 roller tip rockers and a electric water pump. The tranmission is a 4 speed manual with a 205 transfer case and the truck has 1ton rears 410gears 32/11.5/15 tires. seems to be running out of power. The truck runs up to 6500rpms around 225 feet after that the power seems to bogg down bad any suggestion? I think it needs more power and torque.
A pulling truck with a manual 4-speed? Is this a serious sled pulling truck?
Horsepower and torque cost money, how much do you want? For serious pulling, IMO, go with a big block hands down, they make torque out of the box and a little massaging will go a long way.
Bogging down with a mild small block at 225 feet sounds normal to me, the weight on the sled's coming forward, expect it to take you down.
bigger engine, ditch the hydraulic flat tappet cam and roller tip rockers. start getting some race type parts
