The 1969 Falcon 6 cylinder cars came with 2 different rear ends types. One has a spicer type rear end. The gears must be installed in the housing. These rear have the ratios of 2.83 - 3.08 - 3.20 This is a job best done by a professional or a experienced hobbyist. Not for beginners.

The other rear end is a removable carrier type. You could change this carrier at home with only a handful of common tools. These are commonly referred to as the 8 inch Ford. The ratios available from Ford are

2.33
2.79
2.80
3.00
3.25
3.40
3.50
3.55
3.80

I have never seen a 2.33 or a 3.80
They must be fairly difficult to find. The most common one I have seen is the 2.79

To determine which one you have, just look at the rear end housing. If you can see bolts in the center area of your axle while viewing it from the rear bumper side.........it is not the 8 inch. They have 10 bolts that have to be removed from the front of the housing.

HOPE THIS HELPS.......

IF you will reread my statement.......you do NOT have the 8 inch. I do not see a decent return on your money changing the rear gears.

If you have the 2.83 ratio and went to the 3.20....there is NOT enough gain to justify the cost IMHO.
