need a new vortec head

I have a new gm performance vortec ht383e with 20,000 miles. A screw from the tbi went into the engine and cracked the head. I want to get a new head and use my valves and springs. No one locally has a new head, where is a good place to order one?
Thanks, Jeramiah

Any GM dealer can get you a new bare casting or a new assembled head.

Thanks, i was hoping to find one at a better price than the dealer.
I just might have to bite the bullet and order from the dealer.
Thanks again for the reply.

Summit in Georgia probabily has them in stock.
Bare or assembled vortec heads in singles.
Any used/rebuilt vortecs must be mag checked for cracks.

Vortec cylinder heads only get separated from the engine for 1 reason.
cause they are cracked.

Vortec heads are no more likely to crack than any other GM head but the vortec motors
had a specific cooling system issue (intake gasket leak) that killed these heads.
The motors that these heads are from, lived a hard life and got hot.
any head will crack when the motor is fried.
if you want performance. just sell the other head and buy a set of bowtie vortecs.
now you have 2 new superior hi perf heads with thicker casting and many improvments.
The engine will make more power.

The head was damaged from a screw getting into the cylinder not from heat. The engine never has gotten hot. The engine came from gm performance, not an aftermarket build.I only need one head, it doesn't make sense to replace both with only 20,000 miles on engine. In checking the head number non chevys 383 spec sheet I find the same part number as all 350 vortec heads, nothing special about the head. I am going to use the old valves and springs from the old head since they are relativly new.
Thanks Jeramiah
