Question Need a part!

Do any of you have a good exhaust manifold for a Chevy 216 that needs a new home? Mine is broken and makes a lot of noise and I am worried that it might burn the valves if I run it very much.

Weld her up with nickel rod Gr8, have a machinist take a skim cut off the flange...away you go for another 50 000 miles.

I have had really good results with NI rod arc welding cast iron exhaust manifolds, almost never cracks...if it's done properly (a little preheat-350-400 degrees F or the "spit sizzles" temp!).

Heck I have even done cast iron barbeque grills for restauraunts (that's thin section) and they never crack.

Preheat is the key...

I did one once on a forklift while it ran to keep the weld zone hot and it still runs...no cracks 15 years later...used every day. The entire flange cracked off the Toyota manifold because the muffler sat unsupported.

Of course if you want a restored original I can understand that, but if it is a beater...
