Need some carb info

I have this 85 ford f250 2wd and it has a 300 6 in it. I am having trouble figuring out what to do with my carb. rebuild it or go with a different carb.The carb I have right know is a carter 1bl eec iv feedback carb. We cant get in to run right.

Can't get it to run right...what's it doing? Maybe it only needs a rebuild.

The idle is ruff and it goes to about where it dies then it jumps back up

Feedback carbs ... ugh.
Nobody liked them (nor the infamous "VV" - variable venturi)
EFI couldn't come quick enough!

I can tell you that those 300's used the same carb for years and years, and that they were generally very dependable. 1975-1986 here in Canada at least according to the buyer's guide at Autoline Carbs Part # C6077
