OK - while apart for new front springs built a front license plate bracket. I have to admit - it really was a PITA, but this should work just fine. It bolts to the front cross member, drops down under the splash shield then has a bar to mount the frame and plate. There is barely enough room to fit a jack under there with the plate on. With the IFS along with full fenders and splash shields, it is tough to jack the front of this car.

Looks good and,a simple solution.. it is kind of a crappy law, and seemingly it is enforced here... I got a ticket over the summer for having a tow ball in the bumper of my truck because it was "obstructing the view of the licenses plate". I coulda fought it but figured it didn't put points on my licenses and it couldn't have been too much money.. few months later, I received a $40 ticket with an $85 court fee. also said to make it payable to CASH. but I sent an extra stamped envelope and I did get a reciept for it
Back when I had my '98 Ford Ranger 2WD, and I swapped the front ends. I never got around to putting the front plate mount on the new bumper. but I really didn't drive it much being it was a 2WD. and I completed the swap in August and sold it in may |

Thanks guys - it was an "interesting" project. I think I'm down to one or two little ones, then on goes the hood - which I have to figure a way to hold the top halves down or use the zig-zag springs and leather straps.
