It depends on how far back or how far foward the motor and trans sits. I have a 87 S-10 and a 88 S-15 with SBC's with the TH350 short shafts with the motors as far back as I can get them to go and used the original driveshafts with no problems. Hope this helps you out. Perry

Theres only 1 way to find out, Do the swap and take it to the track . I know alot of people that run the stock rears up to 350 hp no problem, But there are others that tore up the stock rear with the V6's that came with the truck. I went with a Ford 9 in. in my 87 so I can't tell you from personal exp. with them myself. My 88 S-15 hasen't been out of the garage yet and that has the stock rear in it. When it's done, I'll find out . It's real close to being done. I know this don't tell you much, But the only way to find out is to try. Perry.

If you going to a 350 trans, and using headman headers and transdapt mounts, you will have to add about a 1 1/4 inch to the shaft , if your not lowering it. But as always measure first. If you lower the truck 3 ", it may be perfect. The lower the truck, the straighter the shaft, thus the distance is shorter. The weak point on a stock rear is the spiders or the factory posi. Going with an Auburn posi or other aftermarket posi is far superior and will hold up.
