Need Tech Tips On Baracuda

Thanks for letting me join. I usually have questions on Chvrolet products but today I have been Working on a 1973 baracuda with a 340. Recently replaced fuel pump and filter installed new plugs and wires along with new 4 barrel holley(Tomco) carb. Now the car will start then rev up high then die. I think maybe vacuum???So I check all lines and manifold and no leaks. Anyone have any ideas??

Is it on a spreadbore manifold?

If your throttle blades are opened too much at idle that would happen.

Yes its a spreadbore and I checked the blades, they were okay. I notice that the choke opens all the way up when it revs up and that when the engine dies, I makle the engine keep running by throttling but it backfires the whole time about mid way through tailpipe more of a grumbling sound every now and then a pop
