Transmission questions

Trying to identify applications for GM muncie transmission case # 3837334. It was mated with a chevy 292 (year unknown) engine. I have heard it fits 55'-67' applications. Is this true?

Transmission identification

Thanks for your question. It is a cast iron, Muncie 4 speed manuel transmission. I was told it was applicable for 55-67 truck/van applications, but I don't know for sure. I know that it was attached to a chevy 292 straight six, but not sure what it came out of either. It has other numbers on it as well like GM 8. I can't seem to get a straight answer for what it is or out of. Thanks for your help!
