need tricks or ideas for more power

k so this is for all the guys that do this on a daily basis. i have a 70 swb (hence the name) but i have rebuilt the motor and the tranny is rebuilt also. motor has over size cam, dome pistons, and high compression. i got some parts from a guy that quit running dirt track. all parts were brand new parts. i dont like running used stuff tranny is a turbo 400 all stock. new edelbrock carb. i would like to add power to the truck. i have dreams of making the truck a nice hot rod and i guess you can say im in the process of doing so. so my question is what can i do and what parts can i use to make power (torque/hp)? i cant spend a whole alot of money right now but i am saving for the bigger stuff. what can i do without breaking the bank? thanks in advance.

You did not give us any info we can use to help you. We need to the specs of the parts you have in the motor now and the specs of the parts you got from the other guy. Just stating "oversize cam" or "dome pistons" does not tell us anything. You have to be more specific.

Do you know what heads are on it? Casting #?
The problem is that everything has to work together to make power and by not knowing what you have now, we are just guessing and could hender performance instead of helping.

What parts did you get from the other guy? Can you post some pictures of them so we at least know what we are looking at?

The problem there is not knowing what parts you have to work with. I doubt that those pistons or cam will do you any good. Most Sprint car guys use a number of different stroke motors and that is based on the crank, rod length and pin position of the piston. Also, some pistons made for Sprint cars are custom made. The cam "may" be usable but again, those for Sprint cars are designed for circle track racing and not street use.

If it's a flat tappet cam, the only use for it is either in the motor it came out of or as a doorstop. You cannot use a used flat tappet cam in another motor. Well, you can, but you won't like the results.

The chances of two different blocks being machined to the exact degrees, minutes and seconds of angle on all 16 lifter bores is akin to winning the Powerball lottery.

True & True. I was assuming it is a roller if it came out of a Sprint Car. My bad...
