OK IV GOT A 63 IMPALA WITH A 383 SMALL BLOCK.I PUT IN A 700R4 TRANNY AND HAVING PROLEMS WITH IT.IV GOT A PRICE OF 475$ TO REBIULT IT FROMA MAN AT THE CHEVY DEALER(ON THE SIDE).PROBLEM IS IS IT GONNA HOLD UP TO MY DRIVING OR IM I JUST WASTING MY MONEY AND SHOULD PUT THE 350 TURBO BACK IN?I DRIVE IT BALLS TO THE WALLS YOU COULD SAY!!BUT DON RELLY FEEL LIKE THROWING 500 BUCK AWAY WHEN I COULD SPEND IT ELSE WHERE.SO IN YOUR OPINION,ANYONE THINK THIS TRANNY WILL HOLD UP?

Fist take off the caps lock.
You aren't getting much for $500.00.
You'd be better off spending that amount on a scooter.

use the spell checker......it helps NOT make you look stupid. And Don't yell...get off the caps. Go with the 350 trans...save a lot of headaches!

oops sorry about the caps! i was at work,and they yous caps.anyways, the ma said he uses gm parts and all in the tranny and said he would install vette srevos and a bigger pressure valve.and ive talked to a few people who recommend him,so i guess i might try it,heck its only money!thanks guys.
anybody really abuse these trannys and make them hold up?

I have abused plenty of those trannys, used to have an 84 Z28 Crossfire. The recent modifications and upgrades 30spline, etc etc have made them very durable. You can't beat the over drive and roadability...that is as long as it is built correctly. Yet you know GM...you never know if you just might get a bad egg

Let me know how the 383 works out powering your '63... Since the 305 gave out in my '64 Impala, I've been hesitant to make a call on exactly which SBC would be best to replace it. In these heavy old cars, it seems like the engine choice affects the entire power equation of the car more dramatically (the 305, for example, just couldn't hack it) and I could really use your input. Good luck with the tranny!
