neutral safty switch

Hello all!
1st post here..

I have a few ????'s

I have a 2000 jeep wrangler that won't start with the clutch in and the key.
Acts like the clutch isn't depressed.
Just dead nothing!!!

Yet it will push start and run fine.
I looked under the dash for the safty switch but there isn't one. How do I find this thing to disable it, and get the jeep to start?

I posted this here since I figure this is a electrical problem since there is no manual push type system on the pedal it's self.

Thanks
Rich

Don't limit your search to just a neutral safety switch. It could also be anything from a bad key switch, bad solenoid, or loose wires to the starter.

I bypassed the ignition
Started right right up. So now I think the ignition switch is bad.

Thanks for the help guys.

On a side note I can't find any mention of a NSS on any car forums nor with a search engine @ least for the 2000 wrangler. So I think it's probably electronic. Also when doing above the jeep started with out the clutch being pushed in.

PS:
Can't wait for the powertrain warrenty to expire (another 20K) so I can join the inliners club again.

On one of my cars, the neutral switch is right on the side of the trans (its an automatic)

Yours might be on the clutch linkage or clutch cylinder, if hydraulic.
